How many times have you received pitches from organizations asking for dollars for their charity programs? The problem often is you don’t know where your dollars go, who they go and how they actually benefit the cause they’re asking you to donate to. The Los Angeles Urban Policy Roundtable, a ten year old 501 C3 public charity and education organization has removed the mystery and uncertainty for you. Our officers and staff volunteers receive no salaries or administrative expenses. This is to insure that every tax deductible dollar we receive goes directly to aid organizations and individuals that are diligently working for sustainability in underserved communities. In June, 2011 we launched our Impact Micro Award Program and Building Healthy Communities Initiative. We have made 25 Impact Micro Awards. The awards went directly to organizations in Los Angeles and in the nation’s five poorest cities. The cities are: Brownsville-Harlingen, Texas, Pine Bluff, Ark., McAllen-Edinburg-Mission, Texas, Albany, Ga., and Kingsport-Bristol, Tenn.-Bristol, Virginia.

We funded  3 organizations  that provide counseling and care programs for children in the  foster care system, 5 organizations that provide books, computers, and sports training programs  for at risk youth, 3 financial literacy programs for inner city teens, 5 programs for at risk youth training, leadership, mentoring and tutoring, and 2 programs that provide health and nutrition awareness, dental care for children and an urban gardening project. And  we funded other programs for underserved childfren in the arts, gang violence prevention, and to combat child  hunger and child homelessness.
The awardees, their organization accomplishments are posted on our Website: http://laurp.org

The micro awards are not charity awards but awards designed to aid the organizations and individuals to build community sustainability with money for basic necessities such as printing, phone, staff and volunteer expenses, and travel funds. These groups rely on individual donations and have limited or no access to foundation or corporate grants or funding. We aim to fill this vital funding niche.
Our goal for 2012 is to make a minimum of 60 awards. We are asking for your support to help us achieve our goal.
Our Target goal is $10,000 by February 15. Two generous donors have agreed to match each dollar we receive.
We thank you for your kind consideration
